RSPCA Stapeley Grange in Nantwich appeal for new homes for dozens of feline friends in their care

An influx of felines has left an RSPCA centre in Nantwich full to the brim and staff are urgently looking for loving new homes for dozens of cats and kittens in their care.

RSPCA Stapeley Grange is currently home to 59 cats and kittens who are awaiting their forever homes. Staff are concerned that being at full capacity is leaving no space for other rescue cats to come through the doors for their second chance.

Lee Stewart, manager of RSPCA Stapeley Grange, said: "The decline in cat adoptions from our cattery over recent months is very worrying.  The team give our cats five-star treatment whilst they are with us, but we cannot substitute a loving family home where they can get the attention they need 24/7.  

“Our rehoming has a knock-on effect and it means we are not able to accept in more cats and kittens from our inspectors, who are struggling to get them into centres such as ours.

“We desperately need help and would urge anyone who is thinking of inviting a cat in to their family to come and see us."

Thirteen year-old Shelly is just one of the cats searching for her happy ending. This pretty puss was originally adopted from the Cattery sadly had to be returned after her owners were unable to care for her any longer.

Lee said: “The RSPCA is committed to helping the most vulnerable animals but we also have a commitment to those that we rehome through our centres.

“Poor Shelly was stressed to begin with, but she is managing to adjust to being back in the cattery, but we are desperate to find a quiet, stress free home where she can get back to enjoying her creature comforts.”

Meanwhile three-year-old Eleanor was brought into the centre by an RSPCA inspector after she was found sick and stray in the centre of Liverpool.

Lee said: “Pretty little Eleanor had reportedly been a stray for a while before she came in to us.  She was very unsure of herself when she first came in.

“Once she had got used to us she became far more friendly.  Sweet Eleanor is adorable but she will need a patient owner and a quiet home before she really feels secure and confident again.”
